Tender to flesh out plans for Kranji racecourse site to be called in 2026

Urban Planning Singapore Land Use

The government will call a tender in 2026 to further refine and evaluate proposals for the Kranji racecourse site, as Singapore prepares to redevelop the large northern land parcel following the cessation of horse racing activities.

The 120-hectare Kranji site is one of Singapore’s largest upcoming redevelopment opportunities, with strong potential for mixed-use, industrial, ecosystem and recreational planning.

Large-scale strategic redevelopment

With the Singapore Turf Club ceasing operations, the Kranji racecourse land will be unlocked for new uses. Authorities have indicated that the site’s scale and location make it suitable for multi-sector development, potentially including:

  • advanced manufacturing and industrial innovation zones;
  • logistics and ecosystem-oriented industries;
  • new public and recreational spaces;
  • environmentally integrated precincts along nature corridors.

The tender in 2026 will enable consultants and planners to undertake detailed studies and propose concept plans covering infrastructure, zoning, environmental preservation and long-term economic potential.

Strategic location near major gateways

The Kranji site sits close to Woodlands, the upcoming northern growth corridor and key cross-border transit points. Its redevelopment could support wider plans including:

  • the Northern Agri-Tech and Food Corridor,
  • the Woodlands Regional Centre,
  • future cross-border connectivity initiatives,
  • new employment clusters for northern Singapore.

Next steps

Prior to the tender, baseline studies on the site’s terrain, transport impact, environmental considerations and infrastructure requirements will be carried out. The government has not yet finalised specific land uses, noting that plans will be shaped by Singapore’s long-term economic and social needs.

What to expect

While no firm redevelopment timeline has been announced, observers expect plans to focus on:

  • economic clusters aligned with high-value industries,
  • integration with surrounding nature reserves and parks,
  • sustainable development models,
  • long-term land productivity and employment generation.
The Kranji racecourse site redevelopment is viewed as one of Singapore’s most significant land-use opportunities of the coming decade.
